How to Stock Your Bar for a Party


The chart above is a handy reference guide when planning for a party.  Increase the amounts for dinner parties or social gatherings that will last longer than 4 hours.

Shopping List

  • Wine, Beer and Champagne - a good staple to serve at any party
  • Mixers - Plan on plenty of tonic water and include diet sodas
  • Limes - Prepare a head of time have slices and twists handy
  • Olives & Maraschino Cherries – A nice touch at a bar station
  • Ice - Buy enough so you don’t run out. ¬†Plan for more when the weather is hot
  • Cocktail Napkins – Buy extra if serving passed hors d’oeuvres
  • Water – Keep your guests hydrated and if your budget allows offer sparkling water

  • Gin
  • Tequila

  • Sweet Vermouth
  • Dry Vermouth

    I was wondering if the amounts suggested are for if you’re only serving that one item. Example, if I’m only serving wine – that’s when I buy 25 bottles. Or, does this mean assuming I serve every item on the list I still need 25 bottles of wine?
