How to Make Colored Sugar
Turn summer drinks into colorful refreshments with colored sugar. You can easily make your own colors to match your party theme. Make your drink fanciful with custom handmade parasols.
What you’ll need
- 1/8 Cup White Sugar Crystals ( regular white sugar also works well)
- Wilton Icing Colors
Directions
Place sugar in a small mixing bowl. Take a bamboo stick and insert into desired Wilton icing color and dip the colored bamboo tip into the sugar. Mix with a spoon until all the sugar is colored. Add more icing color to achieve a richer tone or desired hue.
Use the colored sugar to decorate a drinking glass. Wet the rim of a glass with water. Place colored sugar on a flat plate and then dip the glass rim in the colored sugar. Fill the sugar coated glass with your favorite beverage.
Handmade Parasol
You’ll need wooden skewers a couple of inches taller than your drinking glass. Take colored translucent paper or paper with your favorite pattern design and draw 3″ circles. Cut out the circles and then cut a 1 inch straight line toward the center of the circle. You can use scalloped edge scissors for a decorative touch. Create the umbrella shape by overlapping the edges. Secure with tape or glue. Poke a skewer through the underside of the cone’s point.
